Demolition of old SGH pedestrian bridge starts tonight, public advised on road closures

KUCHING, Nov 4: The existing pedestrian bridge at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) along Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg will be demolished as part of the rebuilding project scheduled to take place from Nov 4 to 5.

During this period, road users are advised to use alternative routes via Jalan Crookshank and Jalan Hospital (Access Road) to ease traffic flow.

Traffic diversion routes and working zones indicated in Section 2 of DBKU’s plan for the demolition of the Sarawak General Hospital pedestrian bridge along Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg.

According to a statement by the Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), the demolition works, under Package 1: Pedestrian Bridge Demolition Works will be carried out from 10pm to 5am.

DBKU also reminded the public to exercise caution when passing through the affected area and to obey all safety signage displayed throughout the work duration. –DayakDaily
