BINTULU, June 13: The delay in visa processing was among the issues raised by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia, Yeo Seung-Bae, during a meeting with representatives of OCIM Sdn Bhd and Samsung Engineering.
In a Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) news report yesterday (June 12), he said the issue was raised by Samsung Engineering.
“I am sure that Bintulu and the Sarawak government are interested in making this place an attractive and successful investment destination for all foreign investors.
“So, to realise it, I hope you (Sarawak) will take the necessary actions to deal with the issue,” he said.
In the meantime, Yeo also spoke about the issues faced by OCIM in the company’s efforts to expand its plant here, including the need for more electricity and skilled labour.
Yeo arrived in Bintulu in conjunction with his maiden working visit to Sarawak, during which he aims to understand the factors that make this State an attractive destination for investment by global companies from South Korea.
His meeting found that Sarawak, among other things, has a stable and competitive electricity supply infrastructure for industrial needs.
“Sarawak also has good natural resources as well as geographical advantages such as (facilities) ports,” he said.
Earlier, Yeo and his entourage visited Samalaju Industrial Park, where they were briefed on the development of OCIM company and activities carried out.
In addition, Bintulu Development Board (BDA) also gave a briefing on Samalaju Industrial Park and investors in the area before the visitors were then taken around the OCIM plant area.
After that, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia and his entourage continued their visit to PETCHEM to listen to a briefing and review the progress of the project carried out by Samsung Engineering.
After that, Yeo left for Kuching at 7.15pm to continue his work visit today.
