KUCHING, Oct 19: Homeowners of various low cost housing around Kuching are losing their patience after failing to get their promised land titles after more than 10 years.
These properties, including flats and single terrace houses, are all low cost housing built by the state Housing Development Corporation (HDC), in various locations, such as Arang Road, Matang, Siburan and 13th Mile of the Kuching-Serian road.
“HDC has failed to ensure justice was done for the buyers.
“If the developer is from the private sector, they would be called irresponsible and penalised. But HDC did not lead by example; some houses are nearly 20-years-old and the house owners still do not have land titles,” Bandar Kuching MP Chong Chieng Jen told reporters today.
Chong, who is assisting a group of homeowners in this matter said he would raise this issue in the upcoming state assembly meeting.
He added the state-owned HDC, which was previously under Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, had performed terribly in fulfilling its basic responsibility to get land titles issued to owners. – DayakDaily
