KUCHING, July 13: The Court of Appeal here adjourned to Nov 23 the hearing of a case involving a labourer who was sentenced to death for murdering his friend in 2017, to allow his counsel time to study the case.

Tony Rambor was convicted and sentenced to death on December 11, 2018. He through his assigned counsel Osman Ibrahim is appealing against the said sentence meted by the Sibu High Court.

Osman today applied for an adjournment of the hearing as he had just accepted the case around the end of June and he needed more time to study the case.

The three-men Court of Appeal bench through video conferencing allowed his application to adjourn the hearing to November 23.

The appellant was found guilty of murdering Entermang Julin, in front of a house in Sibu, on June 27, 2017, at about 8pm.

He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries a mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.
