KUCHING, Aug 3: The land documentation work on Native Customary Rights (NCR) land by the Sarawak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) is legitimate and recognised, Deputy Minister for Transport Sarawak (Riverine and Marine), Dato Henry Harry Jinep asserted, firmly refuting claims that DBNA’s Land Documentation Committee lacks proper accreditation.

According to a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) news report, Henry said DBNA had initiated its land measurement plans as early as 2007 and began documenting Bidayuh NCR land in Bau in 2009 to resolve long-standing boundary disputes between families and landowners.

“Since documentation began, 90 per cent of NCR land across Singai has been surveyed and most have been issued with land titles.

“If the documentation carried out by DBNA were invalid, how could land titles have already been issued for Kampung Sibuluh, Kampung Grogo and areas around Jagoi?

“Why is it only now in 2025 that people are suddenly claiming DBNA’s Land Documentation Committee is unqualified to do this work?” he questioned during the DBNA Bau Branch dinner held at Dewan Suarah Bau last night (Aug 2).

This comes in response to a recent TikTok video post alleging that DBNA’s documentation work on NCR land is not legally recognised.

Henry, who is also Tasik Biru assemblyman, further revealed that DBNA’s land documentation system is now also trusted and adopted by the Chinese community in Bau.

At the same event, he announced that DBNA currently owns two premises at Tasik Biru Resort City with equity worth RM2 million. He also revealed that a RM9 million Bidayuh Cultural Centre is under construction and is expected to be completed by October, with its official opening scheduled for early next year.

Additionally, Henry shared plans to organise the largest unity parade in Bau in May next year.

During the dinner, he also presented a Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant cheque to DBNA Bau Branch. — DayakDaily
