KUCHING, Oct 31: Kuching North City Hall (DBKU) bags national recognition for its efforts to cut bureaucratic red tape, streamline approval processes and deliver faster services to the public and business community, winning both Platinum and Gold awards at the 2026 National Conference on Bureaucratic Red Tape Reform (RKB).
According to DBKU in a statement shared on social media yesterday (Oct 30), the conference was held from Oct 28 to 29 at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC), where the two awards by Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) recognised its initiatives to simplify procedures, improve work efficiency and speed up approvals.
The Platinum Award was given for DBKU’s success in reducing the approval period for critical business licences from 150 days to just 32 hours.
Meanwhile, the Gold Award recognised its efforts in shortening the approval process for Single Crossing permits from 14 days to 16 hours.
These improvements have helped reduce waiting times, simplify application procedures and make DBKU’s services more efficient and responsive to customers.
The recognition also reinforces DBKU’s commitment to strengthening public service delivery in line with the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).
DBKU expressed its appreciation to Sarawak State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy State Secretary (Operations) Datu Hii Chang Kee and the Sarawak Transformation and Innovation Unit (STIU) for their support in advancing the bureaucratic red tape reform agenda in Sarawak.
The council also acknowledged the dedication and cooperation of its staff in driving continuous improvements that bring direct benefits to the public.
DBKU said it would continue strengthening service delivery to ensure its services remain accessible and responsive to community needs. — DayakDaily
