DARO, June 11: Plans to construct a dual carriageway in Daro have been highlighted under a comprehensive master plan aimed at strengthening connectivity and supporting long-term economic growth in the district.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the proposal is part of efforts to improve accessibility and ensure more efficient movement of people and goods within the area.
He said improved road infrastructure would directly support economic activities in key sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, livestock and small and medium enterprises.
“Better connectivity will open up more opportunities and enhance economic activities in Daro,” he was quoted by Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) as saying during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Anjung Usahawan Daro project yesterday (June 10).
Awang Tengah added that the master plan is designed to ensure development is carried out in a more structured and coordinated manner, taking into account both current needs and future expansion.
He said the framework would also help attract more investment into the district by improving overall infrastructure readiness.
Meanwhile, Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad said the RM6 million Anjung Usahawan Daro project, which commenced in March 2026, is expected to be completed by December 2027.
He said the facility will serve as a dedicated hub for local entrepreneurs, providing kiosk spaces for the marketing of local products in a more organised and competitive environment.
The centre will also feature product processing facilities to improve value-added production and enhance the quality of local goods.
In addition, it will function as a training and mentoring centre, as well as an incubation space to support new entrepreneurs with structured guidance and facilities.
Dr Safiee said the project is expected to strengthen the local SME ecosystem and expand market access for products from Daro and surrounding areas.
