MIRI, Jan 8: A police report has been filed this afternoon by Democratic Action Party (DAP) Socialist Youth (Dapsy) Sarawak against Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki following the revelation that his brother has used his securities account to acquire shares in several companies.

It was alleged that Azam has ownership of millions in publicly traded stocks.

Dapsy Sarawak chief Peter Hee was seen at the Miri Central Police station around 12pm today with DAP Sarawak secretary Alan Ling and Marcus Hugo Lejau, a former school principal.

Speaking to local media after making the report, Hee said that he wanted the police to conduct a thorough investigation over the case under Section 25 of the Securities Industry (Central Depositories) Act 1991 (Sicda) and Public Service Circular No. 3, 2002.

He added, Azam should also be temporarily relieved from his post until the investigation is concluded.

“We reject any form of corruption or wrongdoings and want a cleaner Malaysia. Such an act (referring to Azam’s case) has tarnished the image of MACC,” Hee pointed out. — DayakDaily
