MIRI, Jan 3: Telang Usan assemblyman Dennis Ngau has described the newly formed allegiance between Democratic Action Party (DAP), Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) as nothing but just a political gimmick for the coming 12th state election (PRN12).
Dennis, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Telang Usan chief, opined that the opposition parties emerged with some sort of agenda every time an election is approaching to gain the rakyat’s votes.
“For us in Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), we don’t feel threatened by the newly formed allegiance (referring to DAP, PKR and Amanah coalition), it’s political freedom, if they want to fight, let us fight in a competitive election,” he pointed out when met after officiating at the Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) blood drive campaign held at Bintang Megamall here today.
Dennis was asked for his views on the nearly formed agreement between three opposition parties -DAP, PKR and Amanah, aimed at increasing their chances to win in the coming PRN12.
The agreement was announced yesterday at DAP headquarters in Kuching by DAP Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen, in which all of the 82 state seats will be contested, with PKR to contest in 47 seats, DAP in 26 seats and Amanah in nine seats.
Also present during the announcement were PKR Sarawak chairman Larry Sng and Amanah Sarawak chairman Abg Abdul Halil Abg Naili.
Dennis said that the rakyat are wise enough to choose the political party that is able to serve them better and not those (from the opposition) that promised them “the moon, stars or paradise on earth” as these things can never be delivered to them.
Hence, he reminded the people to be wary of those who promised things that they can never deliver.
Dennis added, GPS`s good track record as the ruling coalition in Sarawak has proven that it is the party that cares for the people’s wellbeing. — DayakDaily
