KUCHING, Jan 7: George Lam, special assistant to Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, is calling for immediate action from the authority to address the unhygienic condition of the Desa Wira Recycling Centre.

Lam said the recycling centre was launched not over a year ago on Feb 26, 2022, but all three windows on the outlet have now gone missing.

“I urge that the elected rep for Batu Kawah, Minister of Housing and Local Government and Deputy Premier of Sarawak (Dato Sri) Dr Sim (Kui Hian) and MPP (Padawan Municipal Council) chairman Lo (Khere Chiang) take this issue seriously.

“The people staying in the area are paying their assessment fee on a yearly basis. It is duty bound for the council to solve the problem as soon as possible,” he said in a statement today.

Lam said during a walkabout at Desa Wira today with Dr Yii and Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, they found the recycling centre to be like a rubbish dumping site.

Therefore, Lam urged Dr Sim and Lo to look into the issues raised and resolve them as soon as possible. — DayakDaily
