KUCHING, July 20: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) chairman Chong Chieng Jen attributed the changes to three important policies in the July parliamentary sitting to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership.

Chong said the changes involved the amendments to the Medical Act 1971, guaranteed matriculation places for students who achieve 10As in SPM, and the handing over of Bintulu Port to Sarawak.

“As a member of Parliament for five terms and having observed the workings of the government and the opposition in Parliament, I strongly believe that the three policy changes would not have happened if it were not for Anwar as the prime minister leading the unity government.

“Needless to say, if it were the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, these changes would definitely not take place,” he said in a statement today.

He said these are positive policy changes that will have long-lasting impacts on everyone individually and the country as a whole.

“It also spells the immense possibility for changes that this unity government can install for the country in the next few years till the end of its tenure,” he added. — DayakDaily
