KUCHING, Aug 22: Serian is set to shine with the Danu Serian water theme park and apartment project, a landmark development by Tecktonic Group that has been hailed as the first of its kind in Borneo.
During the launch of the project today, Minister for Public Health, Housing, and Local Government Sarawak, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, said the project is poised to be a source of pride for Serian and the State.
The project, which is expected to be completed within two years, covers 18 acres of land comprising apartments, a hotel, a theme park, eateries, and more, making it a major lifestyle and tourism destination for the region.
The developer’s managing director, Lee Chin Teck, described the project as a ‘shining diamond’ in the Borneo jungle, which will attract local and foreign tourists.
At the same time, the Serian District Council (SDC) welcomes the project as it will contribute to Serian town’s progress and prosperity by creating job opportunities and generating income for the people of Serian.
“We support anything that is new and modern, especially projects that create jobs, income, and business opportunities. Without such developments, we risk remaining stagnant,” said SDC chairman Dato Peter Minos.
He also added that the council will boost tourism in Serian by embarking on six projects at the Silabur Cave, Ranchan Pool Waterfall, Pancor Dayak Hot Spring, Bung Sadong Mountain, Riih Daso Lake, and Pesang River, offering visitors a range of experiences.
