New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak rise to 390, one death in Sibu

KUCHING, Feb 18: New Covid-19 cases in Sarawak rose to 390 today, with one death in Sibu involving a 36-year-old man with morbid obesity.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its latest update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, reported that Kuching continues to top the list with 126 cases, followed by Sibu and Miri with 71 cases each.

Another 20 districts also reported an increase in cases namely Kapit (36); Lawas (13); Sarikei and Samarahan (10 cases each); Bintulu (9); Kanowit (7); Song, Serian, Limbang and Sri Aman (5 each); Meradong (4); Pisa (3); Lundu, Bau, and Selangau (2 cases each); while Betong, Asajaya, Saratok, and Julau have one case each.


The latest figures thus pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally to 255,692.
With one Covid-19 fatality reported, the State death toll increased to 1,622.

Of the new cases, there is one case under Category 5 with pneumonia requiring ventilator support, two each in Category 4 and 3, 248 cases under Category 2, and 137 under Category 1.

Currently, there are two active clusters in Sarawak which did not register an increase in cases.

Meanwhile, the police had issued 20 compounds in Kuching in the past 24 hours for failure to check-in to premises with MySejahtera. — DayakDaily
