KUCHING, Nov 12: Wife and child of Covid-19 Case 899 from the Wisma Saberkas Cluster, Kuching have been tested positive for the virus today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Cases 1,017 and 1,018 reported in Sarawak today are the wife and child of Case 899 detected from the close contact tracing tests.

“Cases 1,017 and 1,018 are new cases who had close contacts with a positive case in the Wisma Saberkas Cluster, while Case 1013 is a new case who had close contact with a positive patient in the Greenhill Cluster,” he said.

Adding on, he noted Case 1,013 is the father of Covid-19 Case 916 from the Greenhill Cluster.

Aside from the three cases involving active clusters in Kuching, there were four more Covid-19 positive cases reported in the same district.

“Case 1,012 is the husband and is a close contact of Case 1,010, whereas Cases 1,014, 1,015, and 1,016 are the wife and children of Case 986.

“All these cases have been admitted into the isolation wards in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) for further treatment while the active tracing of close contacts is being conducted,” said Uggah in a press conference on Covid-19 updates today.

Outside of Kuching, he said there is one new case reported in Lawas, involving an Import-B case who just returned from a Covid-19 high-risk area, Sabah.

“Case 1,019 is a local male who underwent the Covid-19 screening test after coming back from Sabah on Nov 7. He was in Sabah since early June, 2020 as he was working as a salesman in a boutique in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

“The patient returned to Sarawak through ICQS Merapok and was directly sent to the quarantine centre in Lawas as a 14-day quarantine was mandatory,” he reported.

With that, he concludes a total of eight new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak with seven local transmission cases and one import case from Sabah, with a cumulative number of 1,019 Covid-19 cases as of this day.

Meanwhile, Uggah noted 22 patients who have recovered and been discharged from hospitals today and zero Covid-19 cases are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He also reported 13 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases and three cases awaiting laboratory test results.

“Today, there are 159 person-under-surveillance (PUS) who were registered into various hotels across Sarawak to be quarantined, resulting in a total of 2,287 PUS being quarantined in 29 hotels throughout Sarawak.

“A total of 30,889 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine,” said Uggah. — DayakDaily
