Upon arrival, the firefighters briefly spotted the young crocodile in the drain in front of a sawmill. However, before any action could be taken, the reptile quickly dived and disappeared into the water.

According to Lutong Fire and Rescue station chief Henry Jugah, efforts to locate the crocodile proved unsuccessful due to the drain’s structure, which included culverts that made detection challenging.

The Fire and Rescue Department has since contacted the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC), and an SFC officer confirmed that a team was dispatched to the location.

The firefighters monitored the area before returning to the station, leaving further investigation and action in the hands of SFC personnel.

Meanwhile, residents and the public are urged to remain cautious and avoid the drain or nearby water sources until the crocodile is safely captured. – DayakDaily
