Covid-19: Zero new cases, Bintulu reverts to green zone

KUCHING, Sept 7: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) disclosed that zero cases of Covid-19 were recorded in Sarawak today, with Bintulu turning into a green zone.

SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Bintulu  reverted to a green zone after fourteen days without new positive cases of Covid-19 while the Alam cluster is still active with eight remaining cases.

“Kuching district still remain in the yellow zone with one local case recorded in the past fourteen days.

“This brings the total number of districts with green-status to 39 and yellow status in the state to one,” said Uggah during a press conference on Covid-19 updates at the old State Legislative Assembly building in Petra Jaya, here today.

Uggah also noted a total of five new cases have also recovered and discharged from the hospital, namely in Bintulu (three) and Sarawak General Hospital (two), which brings the total cumulative numbers of recovered and discharged cases to 674 (96.42 per cent).

At the same time, he said six individuals are currently receiving treatment in the hospital isolation ward.

“The death toll in the state remains at 19 cases (2.72 per cent) and three new Person Under Investigation are reported with one of them still waiting for laboratory test results,” he added. –DayakDaily.
