Covid-19 update: State records 8 new PUI cases today

KUCHING, March 8: Sarawak recorded eight new Person Under Investigation (PUI) cases for Covid-19 today.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee in a statement revealed Sarawak General Hospital and Sibu Hopital recorded three cases each while Miri Hospital has two.

Since Jan 10, Sarawak has recorded a total of 215 PUI cases, of which 195 tested negative while the remaining 20 are awaiting laboratory results.

Meanwhile, the state health department has screened 14,183 arrivals into the Sarawak at all its air, sea and land entry points yesterday, bringing it to a total of 399,936 screened since Feb 1 this year.

The department strongly advised those who planned to travel to affected countries like China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea, Italy and Iran to postpone their trips.

Those who have travelled to any of the above countries within the last 14 days and have developed fever, coughing and breathing difficulties must seek immediate medical treatment.

They must inform the doctor attending to them of their travel history.
