KUCHING, Mar 2: The Covid-19 Person Under Investigation (PUI) cases took to a drastic turn today when 15 new cases were reported in Sarawak.
According to State Disaster Management Committee statement, eight cases were recorded at Sarawak General Hospital in Kuching, six at Bintulu Hospital and one at Sibu Hospital.
Two of these new cases involve Vietnam nationals.
Since Jan 10, Sarawak has recorded a cumulative 148 PUI cases to-date.
Of the total, 119 cases involved Malaysians, 22 Chinese nationals, two Vietnamese, one Thai, one Indonesian, one Pakistani, one Canadian and one Australian.
Meanwhile, 134 cases were tested negative while the remaining 14 are awaiting laboratory result.
The Health Department had screened 19,660 arrivals into the state, bringing a total of 309,663 persons screened since Feb 1.
Those who intend to visit Covid-19 affected countries like China, South Korea, Italy, Japan and Iran are advised to postpone their trips for now.
The ministry also advised the public to practise the highest standard of personal hygience at all times.ā DayakDaily
