Covid-19: Tracing, disinfection measures underway following recent death

MIRI, Mar 31: In view of the recent Covid-19 death involving a 46-year-old woman, Miri Division Disaster Management Committee gives its assurance that all measures are being taken to identify the source of infection.

Efforts involving the health authorities in collaboration with relevant agencies are being made, among them include interviews with close contacts of the deceased, none of whom currently exhibit symptoms.


Further laboratory investigations will be done for these identified as close contacts.

In addition, workplace management is currently carrying out disinfection and cleaning activities as instructed in accordance to Ministry of Health guidelines.

Miri Division Disaster Management Committee reminds the population of Miri to practice social distancing of at least one-meter from others, to clean frequently touched surfaces using standard disinfectants, to regularly clean your hands thoroughly and avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose.

“In the event you have symptoms, please approach nearest health facilities (government health clinics and hospital) for symptoms and risk factor screening,” they said in the statement today.

The committee has also advise the public not to share or spread viral messages, reports, pictures and unverified claims of the deceased to respect the family privacy and allow the respective technical agencies to perform their duties towards the control and preventive activities for Covid-19 situation in Miri. —DayakDaily
