Covid-19: S’wak logs 64 new weekly cases, lowest recorded this year

KUCHING, Feb 20: Sarawak has logged 64 new Covid-19 cases in Epidemiological (Epid) Week 7, the lowest recorded this year.

So far, the Covid-19 trend in Sarawak has been decreasing, with the first Epid Week this year reporting 270 cases.

In a statement today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said of the total new cases, Kuching recorded 38 while other districts reported not more than 10.


Miri and Sibu each reported six cases; followed by Samarahan — four cases; Bintulu and Subis — two cases each; while Bau, Sri Aman, Selangau, Telang Usan, Tebedu and Song each reported one case.

At the same time, only one case was classified as critical or under Categories 3, 4, and 5, while the rest were in Categories 1 and 2.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in Sarawak since the pandemic began to 324,530.

No deaths were reported for Epid Week 7. — DayakDaily
