Covid-19: Sri Aman reverts to orange zone while Lundu, Lawas improve

KUCHING, Feb 20: In less than two days after the Covid-19 situation in Sri Aman improves, the Sri Aman district has now reverted to an orange zone of Covid-19.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement today said Sri Aman registered two new cases of coronavirus.

In view of that, there were a cumulative of 22 cases of Covid-19 in the past two weeks for Sri Aman which categorised the district as an orange zone, an indication of a district with a cumulative number of 21 to 40 cases.


However, the Covid-19 situation in Lundu and Lawas improved.

Lundu, which was an orange zone of Covid-19 was upgraded to a yellow zone of Covid-19 with a total of nine cases of Covid-19 in the past fortnight.

A yellow zone of Covid-19 is a zone or district whereby there are a total of one to 20 cases in the past 14 days.

For Lawas, the district which was a yellow zone of Covid-19 has turned into a green zone of coronavirus after zero infection reported in the past two weeks.

A green zone of Covid-19 is a zone or district with zero infection.

With Lawas turning into a green zone of Covid-19 today, the number of districts which are classified as green zones has increased to 14.

They are Marudi, Kabong, Pusa, Mukah, Tebedu, Tanjung Manis, Limbang, Asajaya, Telang Usan, Lubok Antu, Simunjan, Daro, Sarikei and Lawas.

There are 13 districts which are classified as yellow zones of Covid-19 in Sarawak.

The Bau, Matu, Selangau, Betong, Saratok, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong,Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga and Meradong remained as yellow zones with a total of 78 cases of local transmission in the past 14 days.

Another 12 districts namely Kuching, Samarahan, Julau, Subis, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu stayed as red zones of Covid-19 with a cumulative 2,138 cases of local infection in the past fortnight.

In the meantime, SDMC said Sarawak reported 134 new cases of Covid-19 and four death cases.

The new cases were derived from Sibu (53), Bintulu (19), Kuching (15), Kapit (12), Samarahan (10), Song (8), Miri (4), Bukit Mabong (3), Selangau (2), Sri Aman (2), Sebauh (2), Bau (1), Julau (1), Meradong (1) and Belaga (1).

The additional 134 cases have increased the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 7,758 cases. — DayakDaily
