Covid-19 SOP violations: Six compounds issued for cockfighting

KUCHING, June 21: Six compounds were issued for cockfighting as cockfighting is prohibited under the current Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

According to a report from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the six compounds were among 45 compounds issued by the police for various SOP violations throughout the State.


Other offences include violating curfew, gathering without physical distancing, not wearing facemasks in the public, vehicle carrying more passengers than permitted, not using MySejahtera to check-in into premises and interdistrict travelling without permit.

Meanwhile, Bintulu has the highest number of compounds issued with 15 followed by Kuching with 14, Belaga (6), Miri (3), Sibu (3), Sarikei (3) and Mukah (1).

Local councils also issued nine compounds.

There were six issued by the Bintulu Development Authority, two by Kota Samarahan Municipal Council and one by Sibu Municipal Council.

Not wearing face masks accounted for the most compounds issued with six.

Other offences include operating beyond permitted hours, not providing hand sanitiser and opening non-essential services premises. — DayakDaily
