“SDMC (Sarawak Disaster Management Committee) reported nine cases in Serian district and one in Tebedu district.

“There are eight cases found in Serian District. Three in Kampung Gayu, four in Kampung Siburan and one in Kampung Merakai.

“The question is, Kampung Gayu is in Puncak Borneo while Kampung Siburan falls under Padawan.  So in actual fact, there is only one case in Serian District,” Riot told DayakDaily.

Meanwhile, Riot also pointed out that there are 18 persons in Kampung Tebakang Melayu who are Covid-19 PUI (Person-under-investigation) cases and have put themselves under self-quarantined.

“They will be swabbed today and we pray that none of them will be positive,” he said.

Riot, who at the moment is at Kampung Pichin, called on the residents of Serian constituency not to panic as the residents of affected villages have been well disciplined when their villages are being placed under Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

He also credited the medical personnel of effective measures in containing further Covid-19 outbreaks in these Bidayuh areas.

“Covid-19 situation in Serian (constituency) has been under control but please don’t be complacent.  I urge all to strictly adhere to standard operating procedure (SOP).

“Only when we all work together can we fight Covid-19.  As for me, I will be here at my village (Kampung Pichin) to be with the people at this difficult time,” said Riot.

Beginning of this month, there was an outbreak of Covid-19 cases in Tebedu following a Covid-19 positive restaurant chef visiting his hometown in Tebedu, giving rise to the Mongkos Cluster. — DayakDaily
