Covid-19 situation in Bukit Mabong, Lundu improves

KUCHING, May 19: The Covid-19 situation in Bukit Mabong and Lundu has improved, according to a statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today.

Bukit Mabong has reverted back to an orange zone from a red zone after reporting a cumulative total of 37 cases in the last 14 days.


A Covid-19 orange zone is a zone which reported between 21 and 40 cases in the past two weeks while a red zone is a zone which reported 41 Covid-19 cases and above in the past 14 days.

Lundu is now classified as a yellow zone with 20 cases of local infections in the past fortnight.

A yellow zone of Covid-19 is a zone which reports between one and 20 cases of Covid-19 in the past fortnight.

In the meantime, there are 24 districts still classified as Covid-19 red zones in Sarawak.

They are Tebedu, Betong, Pusa, Bau, Belaga, Sebauh, Sri Aman, Pakan, Song, Kanowit, Selangau, Saratok, Subis, Mukah, Sarikei, Beluru, Samarahan, Serian, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, Sibu.

They reported a cumulative 6,304 cases of local infection in the past two weeks.

Other than that, two districts are categorised as orange zones.

They are Bukit Mabong and Tatau, which reported a total of 67 cases of local transmission in the past 14 days.

Moreover, there are nine districts which are classified as yellow zones of Covid-19.

They are Lundu, Julau, Lawas, Matu, Tanjung Manis, Dalat, Daro, Lubok Antu and Limbang.

The districts reported a cumulative 83 cases of local infection in the past fortnight.

Five districts, namely Marudi, Simunjan, Telang Usan, Asajaya and Kabong remain as green zones. — DayakDaily
