Covid-19: Second day in a row with no new cases, 6 recoveries, Limbang now green zone

KUCHING, May 12: Sarawak marks two continuous days without new Covid-19 cases today, while the status of Limbang division has been changed from yellow to green zone.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas informed that six recoveries were recorded today, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 375.


“They were discharged and allowed to go home. Four were from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one case each from Sibu Hospital and Miri Hospital.

“From the overall cases, 69.06 per cent of positive Covid-19 cases have recovered,” he told a daily press conference on Covid-19.

As of today, 150 active cases are still being treated in the hospital with one in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and one requiring respiratory support.

“The status of Limbang division has been turned from yellow to green zone today as it has not recorded any positive Covid-19 cases for the last 14 days,” he said.

Meanwhile, only Kuching remained as a red zone with 77 active cases while Samarahan (33), Serian (8), Bau (4), two cases each in Tebedu and Sibu and Lundu (1) are under the yellow zone.

Divisions in the green zone with active cases are Betong (10), Bintulu (9), Miri (2) and one each in Asajaya, Mukah and Sarikei.

Uggah added that Sarawak also recorded 94 more person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today while 23 cases are still awaiting laboratory test results.

“There are 192 more Sarawakians returning to the state have been checked-in to identified hotels as PUI to undergo compulsory 14-days quarantine,” he said. —DayakDaily
