Covid-19: Sarawak registers zero new cases on first day of Gawai Dayak

KUCHING, June 1: Sarawak recorded zero new Covid-19 cases on the first day of Gawai Dayak, making it the fifth consecutive day of no new cases in this current streak.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement affirmed the total number of cases in the state remains at 552.

The statement also revealed no new recovered patients and discharge cases from hospitals were recorded today.

The total number of patients who have recovered from Covid-19 remains at 508 with a recovery rate of 92.03 per cent of total cases.

SDMC also revealed there were 68 new persons-under-investigation (PUI) while 58 are still awaiting laboratory test results.

As for the 339 samples taken from Belawai in Tanjung Manis, 312 tested negative and the remaining 27 are awaiting results.

Today, another 107 returnees categorised as persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into various hotels throughout Sarawak for their mandatory 14-day quarantine.

This bring the number of PUS still being quarantined at 38 hotels here to 834. — DayakDaily
