Covid-19: Sarawak records 12 recoveries, 6 new cases

KUCHING, Apr 29: Sarawak confirms 12 Covid-19 recoveries, double the number of positive cases reported today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) secretariat informed in a statement that of the six new cases, three were from Kuching, two from Serian and one from Samarahan.


Of the cases confirmed, four were linked to smaller clusters including one to a healthcare worker cluster, one to the Kuching conference cluster while one is still under investigation.

This brought the total number of positive cases in the state to 502 since the first case was detected on March 13.

Of the recoveries today, nine patients were discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and three from Miri Hospital.

Meanwhile, Sarawak also recorded 48 more person-under-investigation (PUI) cases today with 611 cases still awaiting laboratory test results.

The SDMC also updated that 108 more Sarawakians returning to the state have been checked in to identified hotels as PUI to undergo compulsory 14-day quarantines, while 17 individuals have completed the procedure and were allowed to go home. —DayakDaily
