Covid-19: Sarawak keeps clean slate, 4 more recoveries reported

KUCHING, Dec 22: Sarawak recorded four new recoveries and zero Covid-19 case today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDCM) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who has returned to work today after taking long leave following a medical procedure, disclosed that the state’s tally for positive cases was maintained at 1,090.


With four patients discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), he said the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak has increased to 1,060 or 97.25 per cent of total positive cases so far.

“A total of 11 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals in the state with seven in SGH, three in Sibu Hospital and one in Miri Hospital.

“Kuching and Sibu remain as yellow zones with a total of three local cases reported in the last 14 days,” he said in a press conference to give Covid-19 updates here today.

Sarawak also recorded two more Persons-Under-Investigation (PUI) with both cases still pending laboratory test results.

There were also 375 more Persons-Under-Surveillance (PUS) registered into identified hotels to undergo quarantine.

As of today, there is a total of 4,481 individuals undergoing quarantine in 42 hotels and quarantine facilities throughout the state.

Since hotels started accepting individuals for quarantine on April 5, Uggah who is also the Deputy Chief Minister disclosed that a total of 83 of these individuals or 7.6 per cent of total cases had tested positive for Covid-19.

“From the number, 55 cases were from Peninsula Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan while 39 cases were from overseas,” he added. ā€” DayakDaily
