KUCHING, Mar 12: The Health Ministry (MoH) has urged the public and organisers to postpone all mass gatherings to minimise the spread of Covid-19.

MoH in a statement today said those experiencing respiratory infection symptoms were advised not to attend any programmes that involved crowded places, including religious activities.

They should practice a social distance of at least 1 metre when dealing with other people.

“Do not travel to countries which are experiencing Covid-19 outbreaks and do not visit other states of Malaysia during the school holidays, especially those who have symptoms of respiratory infection,” Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Italy has recorded a significant increase in cases and deaths after China.

In Malaysia, the current number of cases are increasing daily.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Covid-19 a pandemic on March 11.

“MoH is seeking the cooperation, trust and support of the people to jointly prevent the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak,” he added.

According to the data, as of today (March 12) 11am, there were 126,135 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 4,630 deaths reported while a total of 68,216 patients have recovered worldwide.
