Covid-19: No new cases, 9 more recovered in Sarawak

KUCHING, May 14: Sarawak registered no new Covid-19 case today, maintaining the state tally of positive cases at 544 and 17 deaths.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas informed that there were 127 active cases are still being treated in hospitals with one in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

“Sarawak recorded nine recoveries with eight cases from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one from Sibu Hospital have been discharged and allowed to go home.


“From the overall cases, 73.35 per cent of positive Covid-19 cases have recovered,” he told a daily press conference on Covid-19 here today.

Meanwhile, only Kuching remained as a red zone with 64 active cases while Samarahan (28), Serian (7), Sibu (3), two each in Bau and Tebedu and one case in Lundu are under the yellow zone as of today.

All the rest of the divisions are categorised in the green zone (which has not recorded any cases for the last 14-days) including Bintulu which still has nine active cases, Lawas (8), Miri (2) as well as Mukah and Sarikei with one case each respectively.

“Sarawak registered 64 more persons-under-investigation (PUI) cases today with 55 cases are still awaiting laboratory results,” he added.

Meanwhile, Uggah updated that that the police have received 7,943 applications for inter-district travelling from 28 police stations throughout Sarawak.

“Out of that number, 7,514 applications have been approved while the balance of 429 were rejected,” he said.

Minister for Local Government and Housing Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and State Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing were present.— DayakDaily
