Covid-19: New cluster involving three longhouses identified in Selangau

The new cluster which was identified by the State Health Department known as the Buloh Cluster in Selangau today.

KUCHING, Feb 27: The State Health Department has identified a new cluster of Covid-19 in Selangau known as the Buloh Cluster.

According to a media statement from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the cluster is a community cluster that involves three longhouses in Sungai Buloh, Selangau district.


“The index case to the cluster is a 32-year-old woman who was identified from symptomatic screenings on Feb 21.

“The case has experienced signs and symptoms since Feb 17.

“The spread of the coronavirus happened through meetings among villagers of the longhouses involved,” it said.

As a result of active case detection (ACD) to the index case, a further 27 new cases of Covid-19 were identified among the villagers of the longhouses.

SDMC said a total of 68 individuals linked to the cluster have been swabbed for Covid-19, whereby 28 individuals were tested positive, 36 individuals were tested negative and four individuals were awaiting the results of their Covid-19 swab test.

The committee also noted that there were 27 cases of Covid-19 reported today in the Selangau district which were linked to the Buloh Cluster.

The Selangau district was also the district with the second-highest number of Covid-19 cases reported. —DayakDaily
