Covid-19: New cases drop from 916 to 880, no deaths reported in Epid Week 49

KUCHING, Dec 12: Sarawak reported 880 new Covid-19 cases during Epid (Epidemiological) Week 49, a slight drop from 916 cases reported in Epid Week 48.

According to a statement issued today by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 871 cases were classified as Category 1 and 2, while nine were classified as Categories 3, 4, and 5.

This has brought the total cumulative number of cases reported in the State to 322,107.


By district, Kuching remained at the top with the most number of new cases at 262, followed by Sibu (121), Bintulu (105), Miri (91), Sarikei (52), Samarahan (37), Serian (32), Bau (25), Dalat (18), Marudi (15), Pakan (13), Mukah (12), Sri Aman (11), Betong and Julau (7 each), Subis, Lubok Antu, Lawas, Tatau, and Kanowit (6 each), Lundu, Daro, and Sebauh (5 each), Saratok, Selangau, Bukit Mabong, Kabong, and Song (3 each), Kapit, Meradong, Simunjan, and Pusa (2 each), Tebedu, Asajaya, Beluru, and Limbang (1 each).

In addition, no new Covid-19 deaths were reported during Epid Week 49. — DayakDaily
