KUCHING, April 5: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) will abide by the state government’s decision to cancel Ramadan bazaars this year.
Its chairman Datuk Peter Minos deemed the cancellation wise as a preventive measure to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19).
“It is a good decision and wise decision (by the state government).
“Now is for everyone to continue to do his or her part by complying with the rules and guidelines within the movement control order (MCO) period,” he emphasised in a statement.
He asserted that all parties including the government and citizens must collectively curb the spread of Covid-19.
Earlier today, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during a press conference in Miri announced that Ramadan and Gawai bazaars this year will be cancelled.
He explained that the move is in line with the government’s precautionary measures to break the chain of Covid-19 infections, amongst others.
On another note, Minos revealed that he will support the federal government’s move to extend the MCO period beyond April 14 on health or medical reasons. — DayakDaily
