Covid-19: Kuching back to yellow zone as zero case in Sarawak today

KUCHING, Aug 2: The Kuching district has returned to become the yellow zone of Covid-19 from the red zone after the number of local transmission cases in the past 14 days has declined to 39 cases.

The information was revealed by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a press statement.

At the same time, the committee said there were zero new positive cases of Covid-19 reported in Sarawak today.

It asserted that the cumulative number of positive cases in Sarawak remained at 678 cases.

SDMC said there are currently five districts which are classified as yellow zones of Covid-19 in Sarawak.

They are Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Bau and Lundu districts.

The committee said the Samarahan district has recorded 11 local transmission cases in the past 14 days, Serian with three cases while Lundu and Bau each with one case in the last fortnight.

SDMC added that there were three patients from Sarawak General Hospital who have recovered and discharged from the hospital today

It said 65 patients are still receiving treatment at the isolation ward in the hospitals.

The committee added that there were 10 new cases of person-under-investigation (PUI) while eight PUI cases are awaiting laboratory results.

Apart from that, SDMC said there were 121 persons who returned to Sarawak as of today and registered as person-under-surveillance (PUS) to undergo quarantine.

It noted that there are currently 756 PUS who are undergoing quarantine at 13 hotels throughout Sarawak.

The committee said a total of 19,372 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine today. —DayakDaily
