KUCHING, Aug 16: Zero new Covid-19 cases have been reported in Sarawak today, which marks the expiring of another cluster called the Jetty Cluster.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) revealed this today, adding that the cumulative number of positive cases in the state remains at 682 cases.

The Jetty Cluster was first declared on July 19, 2020 when two employees of a fishing vessel company at a Pending jetty were reported being infected by the Covid-19 virus.

Both patients are non Malaysians and have been discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on July 30 following their full recovery.

Although the cluster was found to be caused by local transmission in the state, today marks the end of the cluster with no new cases all this while since the second patient was reported.

As such, SDMC said there are seven active clusters left in Sarawak, namely the Engineering Company Cluster, Mambong Cluster, Stutong Market Cluster, Sentosa Cluster, PUI Melbourne Cluster, Kuching Construction Company Cluster and Satok Market Cluster.

Meanwhile, it pointed out four individuals are still receiving treatment in the isolation wards and the number of recoveries remains at 659.

The committee also noted a total of 21 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases and two cases still awaiting laboratory test results.

SDMC added that there were 75 person-under-surveillance (PUS) who were registered into various hotels across Sarawak to be quarantined.

There is now a total of 681 individuals under quarantine in 16 hotels throughout Sarawak while 21,497 PUS have completed their 14-day quarantine. —DayakDaily
