Covid-19 daily stats in Sarawak falls to 834 new cases after 50 days of over 1,000 cases


KUCHING, Oct 12: The daily Covid-19 caseload for Sarawak has now fallen to 834 new cases today, after over 50 days with more than 1,000 cases daily.

Sarawak last reported triple-digit figures on Aug 17 with 835 cases.

According to a report from the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, SDMC said 1.56 per cent or 13 cases out of the 834 cases were in Category 3, 4 and 5.


Out of that, six Covid-19 patients required breathing aid and five Covid-19 patients had to be intubated.

SDMC said 71.58 per cent or 597 Covid-19 cases today had mild symptoms while 26.86 per cent or 224 Covid-19 patients were asymptomatic.

The cumulative number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases in the State has increased to 226,510.

The number of districts which registered new Covid-19 cases has declined to 28 as compared to 36 yesterday.

In spite of that, Kuching remained the district with the highest number of infections throughout Sarawak with 215 cases.

This was followed two districts which reported triple-digit figures: Miri with 184 cases and Sibu with 143 cases.

Meanwhile, Limbang recorded 59 cases, Bintulu (55), Lawas (39), Sri Aman (23), Serian (19), Subis (19), Mukah (12), Samarahan (11) and Betong (10).

Areas which recorded single-digit cases were Kapit (8), Dalat (6), Sarikei (5), Bau (5), Selangau (5), Marudi (3), Matu (3), Tatau (2), Lundu (1), Simunjan (1), Lubok Antu (1), Tanjung Manis (1), Kanowit (1), Asajaya (1), Telang Usan (1) and Julau (1).

Districts which reported zero Covid-19 cases include Tebebu, Pusa, Saratok, Meradong, Pakan, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong, Kabong, Beluru, Daro, Song, and Belaga. — DayakDaily
