Covid-19 Category 1 cases increase to 207 in Sarawak, Category 2 at 427 cases


KUCHING, Oct 30: Sarawak recorded an increase in the number of Covid-19 Category 1 cases with 207 recorded today, while Category 2 cases remain high with 427 of the total of 646 cases reported today.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), a total of 12 cases were also reported involving Category 3, 4 and 5, with three cases in Category 3 with lung infections, one case in Category 4 with lung infection and requiring oxygen, and eight cases in Category 5 with lung infections and requiring ventilator support.

Based on the breakdown in the number of cases, as of today, Kuching continued to report the highest number with 166 cases, followed by Miri with 115 cases.


Among the districts that reported new infections were Lawas (63), Sibu (62), Binulu (31), Limbang (28), Seratok (28), Mukah (15), Tanjung Manis (15), Dalat (15), Serian (11), Betong (11), Sarikei (11), and Matu (10).

This includes Subis with 9 cases, Samarahan (7), Bau (7), Sri Aman (6), Kapit (5), Meradong (4), Julau (4), three cases each for Song and Simunjan, two cases each for Asajaya, Belaga, Kabong, and Marudi, while one case each for Tebedu, Pusa, Kanowit, Pakan, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong, and Selangau, while five other district namely Daro, Lundu, Telang Usan, Lubok Antu and Tatau, recorded zero new cases.

As of today, the total cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak since March 2020 stands at 240,430.

Meanwhile, SDMC also announced the end of two clusters, namely the KM19 Jalan Kuching-Serian Cluster in Kuching and the Batu 8 Jalan Kubong Cluster in Limbang, after zero new cases were reported from both clusters in the previous 28 days.

With no new clusters recorded, only 29 active clusters remain in the State. — DayakDaily
