Covid-19 cases in Sarawak breach 2k mark with 2,548 cases today, 3rd highest in M’sia

KUCHING, Aug 20: A record high of 2,548 new Covid-19 cases has been recorded in Sarawak today, with the new daily caseload breaching the 2,000 mark and replacing the former record high of 1,566 on Aug 16.

According to the Health Ministry (MOH), Sarawak is ranked third nationwide and among nine states or regions that reported four-digit gains in the daily caseload numbers.

Selangor remained top nationwide with 6,974 cases, followed by Sabah with 2,738 cases.

Coming after Sarawak were Kedah (1,932), Kuala Lumpur (1,652), Pulau Pinang (1,523), Johor (1,323), Kelantan (1,281) and Perak (1,248).

Melaka saw 610 cases while Negeri Sembilan recorded 608, Terenggau with 521 and Pahang with 517 cases.

Other states with double-digit infection case numbers were Perlis and Putrajaya, registering 65 and 24 cases respectively.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in Labuan remained low with only one case today. — DayakDaily
