Covid-19 cases in Malaysia hits 3,027, highest record ever

KUCHING, Jan 1: Malaysia sets another new record with 3,027 new Covid-19 cases today.

Ministry of Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham, in his Facebook post today revealed Johor with the highest number of 1,103 new positive cases for the day.


After Johor, Selangor comes next with a total of 706 new cases, followed by Sabah with 493 cases, Kuala Lumpur (316 cases), Penang (111 cases), Kelantan (66 cases), Negeri Sembilan (63 cases), Perak (59 cases), Kedah (30 cases), Pahang (25 cases), Putrajaya (17 cases), (Sarawak 14 cases), Melaka (11 cases), Terengganu (10 cases) and Labuan (three cases).

With that, he summarised a cumulative number of 128,465 Covid-19 cases nationwide, with 25,221 active or infectious cases.

There are 2,145 new recoveries and these patients have been discharged from hospitals, amounting to 102,723 cumulative number of recovery cases recorded.

He also noted 142 patients receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 63 of them requiring respiratory support.

There are eight new fatalities today, bringing the cumulative number of national death toll to 521 or 0.41 per cent of total cases. — DayakDaily
