Covid-19: BMC Kuching suspends service temporarily

Notice by Borneo Medical Centre.

KUCHING, Mar 22: Borneo Medical Centre (BMC) Kuching has suspended their in-patient and out-patient services (including emergencies, deliveries and operations) with immediate effect.

The suspension of service was necessary to facilitate a full terminal cleaning, as a Covid-19 patient who had a negative rapid test was admitted to their ward.

“We are saddened to her about her passing at home on March 18. The result of her positive confirmatory test by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was received on March 20.

“All staff and doctors who had close contact with the patient have been quarantined,” BMC, in a statement, said.

The hospital has carried out decontamination that complies with the National Health and Safety Procedures set by Ministry of Health immediately thereafter to ensure safety of patients, staff and visitors.

Services will resume as per normal on March 30 from 8.30am, the statement continued.

BMC said special arrangements will be made for their routine patients who are undergoing haemodialysis, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Members of the public who have any enquiries or assistance in rescheduling their appointments, do contact BMC at +6082-507333. — DayakDaily
