Covid-19: 24 yo obese man among 15 record-high fatalities in Sarawak

KUCHING, Sept 5: Sarawak sets a new record-high of 15 Covid-19 fatalities today with the youngest victim being a 24-year-old man from Betong.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said the 24-year old victim had obesity.


“He tested positive for Covid-19 on Sept 3 before passing away at Sarikei Hospital,” the Committee said.

In terms of district, Kuching recorded the highest number of deaths with nine cases, followed by two in Serian and one each in Samarahan, Saratok, Betong and Sibu.

SDMC also mentioned that there were two brought-in-dead (BID) cases among the 15 fatalities reported involving two men aged 68 and 79, both from Serian.

The older man had a chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) while the other man had high blood pressure.

SDMC also said three out of nine fatalities in Kuching involved individuals who had no comorbidities.

Apart from the 24-year-old man, the other 14 victims were senior citizens aged between 60 and 97.

The 15 fatalities today brought the total Covid-19 deaths in the State to 564. — DayakDaily
