Covid-19: 172 new cases reported nationwide today

KUCHING, May 25: The Ministry of Health (MoH) disclosed that 172 new cases of Covid-19 positive cases were reported as at noon today.

According to Health director general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, five of the cases were import cases in which the individuals were infected abroad.

“From the remaining 167 cases, 159 of the cases involved the foreigners, whereby 112 cases was detected in three Immigration department detention depo,” he said in a media conference on the Covid-19 daily updates, held at Putrajaya, today.

At the same time, he noted that 34 cases involving Covid-19 had recovered and discharged today, bringing the total cumulative of recovered and discharged cases to 5,979 (80.6 per cent).

“Eight cases are currently being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), and four of them require respiratory assistance.

“There was also no death cases reported to the ministry’s National Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre (CPRC),” he added.

On another noted, Dr Noor Hisham also disclosed that the church cluster in Sarawak recorded one new additional Covid-19 case as of today.

“This bring the total cases from the church cluster in Sarawak to 191 cases, with 16 of the cases are active, while 172 cases have recovered and discharged from the hospital,” he said. -DayakDaily.
