Covid-19: 141 recoveries but 1,442 patients still hospitalised in Sarawak

KUCHING, Jan 22: Sarawak reported 141 new recoveries today but there are still 1,442 patients hospitalised in several hospitals throughout the State.

Of the number of recoveries, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas revealed that 68 patients have been discharged from Sibu Hospital, Miri Hospital (45), Sarawak General Hospital (23) and Bintulu Hopsital (5).

“Thus, the total number of recovered cases in Sarawak have been increased to 1,469 or 50.12 per cent of total positive cases so far,” he told a press conference on Covid-19 update today.

As for patients still hospitalised, Uggah, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, informed that Sibu Hospital saw an increase in Covid-19 patients at 999 as of today.

“There are 238 patients isolated and receiving treatment in Miri Hospital, 133 patients in SGH, 71 patients Bintulu Hospital and one in Limbang Hospital.

“Three patients in Sibu Hospital and one in SGH required medical equipment but their conditions were reported to be stable,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported two Covid-19 fatalities in Sibu and Miri; and 229 new Covid-19 cases today (Jan 22), with Sibu recording the highest number of cases at 168 followed by Miri (28), Kuching (9), seven each in Kanowit, Simanggang, and Lubok Antu while Subis (2) and Bintulu (1).

As such, the state tally of positive cases has now been pushed up to 2,931. — DayakDaily
