SIBU, June 21: The Sibu Magistrate’s Court on Friday (June 20) approved an extension of the remand for a married couple recently arrested for allegedly masterminding a drug trafficking syndicate operating in the Sibu area.
In a TVS news report, Magistrate Oon Kork Chern granted a seven-day remand for the 52-year-old male suspect, while his 44-year-old wife was remanded for an additional four days to assist in the investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
The couple had previously been remanded for seven days, which ended on Friday (June 20).
The application to extend the remand was submitted by investigating officer Inspector Aminur Rizwan Saiful Bahari.
On June 16, police dismantled a drug trafficking syndicate in Sibu, seizing various types of drugs and confiscating assets, including cash and gold bars, with a total estimated value of over RM8.5 million in coordinated raids at three separate locations on June 12 and 13. — DayakDaily
