KUCHING, May 6: A married couple lodged a complaint to the housing tribunal on alleged defective works and poor quality of a new apartment unit in Kuching.

The couple took vacant possession of the apartment unit sometime in August 2022 and found out that more than 50 per cent of the floor tiles came with a hollow sound and approached Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) for assistance.

According to SUPP PCB chief Milton Foo, the couple brought the issue to the developer through the management. Still, the problem remains unsolved, and the alleged defective works have not been duly rectified.

“According to the Sale and Purchase Agreement signed between the complainant and the developer, the defect liability period is 18 calendar months from the delivery date of vacant possession of the said parcel,” said Foo in a statement today.

He added that SUPP PCB had assisted the couple in lodging a formal complaint to the authority, namely the Tribunal for Housing Purchaser’s Claims Sarawak. — DayakDaily
