KUCHING, May 1: Police arrested two individuals after they were found in possession of drugs at a rented room at Batu Kawa New Township, here, today.
Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said the two suspects, a 26-year-old male from Taman Desa Wira and a female, 24, from Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, were arrested following a raid at about 12.15pm.
“After inspecting the room, the police found a small transparent plastic packet containing crystalised substances believed to be syabu (methamphetamine) with an estimated weight of 5.1g, and both of the suspects also admitted to having consumed the drug on the day of the arrest,” he said in a statement.
Aidil said urine test result of the male suspect was positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, benzodiazepines, ketamine, and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), while the female suspect is positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine.
“The male suspect admitted that the drug was bought through a ‘bank-in’ process and was sold to buyers in the vicinity of Taman Desa Wira, MJC and Kampung Sinar Budi.
“Both suspects were brought to IPD Padawan and put in a separate lockup at Siburan and Beratok police stations respectively for further action,” he continued.
The arrest was made under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for drug possession and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, he added. — DayakDaily
