SIMUNJAN, Dec 23: Two suspects were arrested by the police in relation to a burglary case in Jalan Sawmill in Sebuyau.
Padawan District (IPD) deputy police chief DSP Merbin Lisa in a statement disclosed that on Dec 16, IPD Simunjan received a report from a 43-year-old woman that her house in Jalan Sawmill was burglarised.
The woman claimed that a few of her belongings were missing including two cooking gas cylinders, a laptop unit together with the bag which contain work documents, a piggy bank containing about RM100, and also the some of her children’s toys, with a total estimated loss of RM3,500.
“Acting on the information received, on December 18, the police conducted a raid and arrested one of the suspects, who is a 24-year-old man, near the incident location, and later remanded the suspect for four days (December 19-22) to facilitate investigation,” revealed Merbin.
During questioning, the arrested suspect admitted committing the offense and that all the stolen items were sold to various individuals in Sebuyau.
The suspect’s urine test also tested positive for ‘syabu’, and police had also successfully recovered stolen items such as the two cooking gas cylinders, laptop unit and the bag containing the work documents.
Merbin also revealed that the second suspect, 21, was arrested on December 20 at a village in Sebuyau, on suspicion of acting as an accomplice during the burglary and to help the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking and theft and also Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. — DayakDaily
