MIRI, Jan 31: The construction of Miri City Hall at Marina ParkCity is about 2.2 per cent behind schedule, disclosed Mayor Adam Yii.

However, the construction delay was manageable and Miri City Council (MCC) has reminded contractors to speed up the construction process, Yii stated.

“We have informed the contractor to speed up the construction so that that building can be completed on time,” he said when met by media after chairing the full council meeting today.

Yii pointed out that they had sent instruction to the contractor to alert MCC whenever the work was delayed by more than 2 per cent.

“We are monitoring the construction process very closely,” said Yii.

The new city hall sited on 1.29 hectares of land in front of Miri Central Park, is slated to be the next iconic landmark for Miri.

The new nine-storey building costing RM57 million to build is expected to be completed in 18 months’ time. —DayakDaily
