KUCHING, Aug 27: The General Operations Force (PGA) 11th Battalion seized contraband alcohol worth RM87,000 from two containers that were placed at Lorong 11B Lorong Stapok Selatan in an operation dubbed ‘Op Libas’ yesterday.

According to the PGA commanding officer Supt Rosdi Inai, the operation was carried out by 12 officers together with three others from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sarawak at 4.30pm based on information received and surveillance conducted.

“A total of 545 boxes of liquor of all sorts of brands were found hidden in the containers. They also found 12 reams or 300,000 pieces of ‘Customs Duty Paid’ stickers suspected to be false. Based on information obtained, the items are believed to be smuggled in from a neighbouring country by road and intended to be sold in the state’s capital city,” he said in a statement, today.
