SIMUNJAN, Feb 27: A 67-year-old male construction worker was killed after being crushed by a concrete block during a load testing procedure at a school construction site in Simunjan this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 2.08pm regarding the incident at SK Sageng.
A team from Simunjan Station, led by operations commander PBK I Christoper Cungoh, was dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival at 2.14pm, firefighters found the victim trapped beneath a concrete block believed to have been used for load testing on the ground surface at the project site.
Rescue personnel immediately carried out extrication works to remove the victim from the concrete structure. However, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s body was subsequently handed over to the police for further action and investigation. — DayakDaily
